The literal translation for the title is installing a PWA (Progressive Web Apps) in Chrome**, but the majority of the non-technical audiences appear to be unaware of this feature.

People were asking me how did I create a "desktop app" for some websites I regularly visit or what is the app in the screenshot: chrome_9TUTppcnKE.png

It's actually called Progressive Web App aka PWA and it's a pretty new feature that rolled out just recently.

You can create one for yourself with zero technical knowledge in a few steps.

  1. Open Chrome (or Chromium forks) browser on your desktop.
  2. Load a site in Chrome where you want to create an "app"
  3. Open Menu > More tools > Create shortcut... ImageGlass_w5XeeP7vQr.png
  4. Tick the checkbox before clicking Create.

After the creation, an app will appear on your desktop and start menu as a shortcut.

Enjoy a progressive web app!
